Standard AF 1.2-Use the correct order of operations to evaluate algebraic expressions such as 3(2x+5)

 

Student Friendly Language- I know how to use parenthesis, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, & subtraction. (P.E.M.D.A.S)

Example: 3(4/2 +1)-1

 

Divide inside the parenthesis......................................................................................................3(4/2 +1)-1

 

Add 2 and 1 in the parenthesis.......................................................................................................3(2+1)-1

 

Multiply 3 to 3...................................................................................................................................3(3)-1

 

Subtract 1............................................................................................................................................9-1

 

Answer...................................................................................................................................................8
