Standard 4.1

Solve two-step linear equations and inequalities in one variable over the rational numbers, interpret the solution or solutions in the context from which they arose, and verify the reasonableness of the results.

Student Friendly Language

I am able to solve two-step equations and two-step inequalities and verify (or get) reason from the answer.

Our Example:

solve for t:

p>4t+5  p=13

First you'd write down the problem, adding the variable.       13>4t+5

Then you want to subtract 5 to both sides, to get t by itself.   8>4t

After that you'd divide 4 to both sides.

2>t

So, since we have the greater than sign, this means that t is less than 2.
